Meeting Air Vice-Marshal Elaine West

The RAF came to Manchester Academy to teach the girls about the history of Muslim women in the Royal Air Force (serving since 1940 since you ask).

It was a great day at the Academy – the pupils responded really well to meeting all the successful women in the RAF. A history lesson from the Flight Lt Mary Hudson and a speech from the local Imam, then a talk from Miriam Gonzalez and AVM Elaine West. The helicopter went down pretty well too!
